Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she was the 49th Vice-President of the United States. She is the first female vice president and the most powerful female official in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been attorney general for California from 2011 until 2017, and also as a United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010, Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform as well as federal de-scheduling cannabis, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She was well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
